Blue Lagoon boat trip from Sivota

One of the undeniable highlights to visit when in Sivota is the mesmerizing Blue Lagoon. Often compared to exotic destinations of the tropics, this spot is nothing short of a Mediterranean dream. With its crystal-clear turquoise waters, the Blue Lagoon offers a serene and tranquil setting that makes it a favorite among both locals and tourists. Derived from the history of pirates using this secluded bay to hide their ships, the Blue Lagoon’s beauty is accentuated by a mosaic of green and blue shades reflecting off its shallow sandy seabed. The waters are invitingly warm, making it perfect for a leisurely swim or snorkeling. As you explore beneath the water’s surface, you’ll encounter a rich marine life, from colorful schools of fish to curious octopuses. How lovely!

But that’s not all! The lagoon is surrounded by small, verdant islets, adding an extra layer of charm to the setting. Many boat tours are available that will guide you around these islets, offering an unparalleled opportunity to soak in the panoramic beauty.

Whether you’re aiming for a romantic escape, a fun family outing, or a solo adventure, the Blue Lagoon should be at the top of your Sivota bucket list. It’s an experience that beautifully captures the essence of Greece’s captivating coastal splendor. The blue colors is so pleasant for the eyes!
We went on a boat trip from Sivota habour to the Blue Lagoon and it was such a good experience. We went to the habour the evening before where you will find more dealers along the quay. We talked to a few and compared the prices even though the prices were pretty much the same.

Next on our list of 12 things to do in Sivota is a sunset tour to Parga from Sivota.

Sunset tour to Parga from Sivota

Only 28 kilometers south of Sivota another charming greek village named Parga is located. And really, you cannot miss out of this place when in Sivota in Greece. Not only  does this place offer more shopping options than Sivota and great beaches, but also you will see the most spectacular sunsets from here. You can take the bus from Sivota to Parga, but also it is super simple to rent a car and drive the short 39 minutes from Sivota to Parga. We recommend to go in the afternoon so you have the opportunity to explore the city and the highlights of Parga and have dinner before the sun will set.
Beside taking in the charming atmosphere of the small streets of Parga center it is worth mentioning the Olive Museum in Parga, which is only a short walk up the top of Parga. A visit here will get you a good look into the history of Parga’s first mechanical olive oil factory and its connection to the culture and people’s life in Parga. And by the way, do not forget to bring your swimwear on this trip too as you also find more lovely beach inside Parga city centrum where we recommend you to go afterwards a visit to the Olive Museum. If you are a even more adventurous travelers, you should really not miss out on a swim to the tiny island of Panagia just opposite the promenade (only a few hundred meters).  It such a lovely experience and who does not love exploring tiiiiny, isolated islands?
Along the Marina of Parga you have plenty of dinner opportunities and will your stomach full, we recommend you to take the steep walk to the ruins of Parga Castle cup the hill. From there you will have the most stunning view during sunset. Enjoy and then hit the road back to Sivota. What a day!

Bella Vraka Beach in Sivota

Bella Vraka Beach holds a special place in our hearts when thinking of Sivota. A beautiful anomaly in itself, this sandy stretch acts as a natural bridge, connecting Sivota’s mainland to the tiny island of Mourtemeno. And do you know what is the best part of this place? During the summer months, you can easily wade through the shallow, crystal-clear waters to cross from one side to the other and in that way enter the island. It’s an experience that feels both adventurous and magical, making you feel like you’re walking on water.

But Bella Vraka isn’t just a path,  it’s a destination in itself. The fine golden sand, paired with the turquoise waters, creates a vibrant contrast, making it a popular spot for sunbathers and photographers alike. There is no inhabitants or facilities other than a handful of goats and small paths for humans around the islands. Bring your beach towel and swimwear and spend the day sunbathing from here. Please remember a sunumbrealla and lots of sunscreen as this island is all natural, and you do not find sunbeds or any other facilities.. and the sun will get hot! As you lie on the beach, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the surrounding green hills and distant islands, painting a picture of perfect harmony between land, sea, and sky.
Some days there will be a boat-kiosk offering ice creams and drinks. Also in the left corner of the island there are often people renting out paddle boards and kayaks.
When in Sivota, this beach is a must-visit, worthy of its place in the top 12 things to do in Sivota.

Wander in the Acheron River

Known in Greek mythology as one of the five rivers of the Underworld, the Acheron River is a true wonder! For adventures spirit this is one of the top things to do in Sivota. Emerging from the Acherousian Lake and flowing into the Ionian Sea, Acheron is surely not just a treat for the history interested but also a heaven for nature lovers. The river is surrounded by a lush landscape, towering cliffs, verdant forests and the melodious sounds of chirping birds provide a serene backdrop for those looking to escape the everyday hustle and bustle. The Acheron River is a 32 miles long waterway in Epirus and you can walk in the river for many miles as it is very low. This is magical! Though, the current in the river can be pretty rough some places and the river also get more than 2 meter deep at some points. This means that you not only will walk though the river for kilometers while enjoying the scenic views but also you need to swim or dive for smaller distances to pass and continue your river hike. It is so much fun!

BUT do not make the same mistake as us and bring bags all packed with expensive cameragear cause then you will not be able to pass every places. Some places we had to send Cille over the deep firsthand and then Casper walked with his head under water and the bags high above head. It was certainly not easy! Not matter whtat we recommend you to bring a watersafe bag (if you have not with you, you can by one near by) and only one telephone for photos or emergencies in worst case. Also bring bathing shoes or old sneakers as there is many stones, some fruit or other food and water as you easily can spend lots of hours out there and spend quiet a lot of energy when combatting the current in the river. At the main entrance you find parkingspots and a few  cafés and iceshops with an AMAZING view made which made the coffee sooo much better!

The Acheron River main entrace is only located 51 kilometers from Sivota. If you are staying in Sivota you could very well make it a daytrip to the Acheron River and end the day with dinner and sunset in Parga before you hit back home to Sivota. We really loved our visit to the Acheron River. We will definitely come back!

Dinner at Sivota Marina

Another thing to do when in Sivota in Greece is to visit the marina and have dinner in one of the charming restaurants. As the sun sets and casts its golden glow over the Ionian Sea, there’s no experience quite like having dinner at Sivota harbour. Nestled in the heart of Sivota in Greece, the harbour boasts a delightful array of restaurants, tavernas and cafes, each echoing the rich culinary heritage of the region. As the boats sway gently on the water, diners are treated to a sensory journey that encapsulates the essence of Greek gastronomy. You will find fresh seafood – from grilled octopus to succulent shrimps – all seasoned with the region’s aromatic herbs and drizzled with the finest olive oil (so soooo yummy). If you are more inclined towards traditional Greek fare most of the restaurants will serve moussaka, tzatziki and souvlaki  transporting you to the very soul of Sivota’s culinary culture. Always a winner! But the thing is that this is not just about the food! The ambience at Sivota marina is something special. The gentle hum of conversations, clinking glasses and soft melodies create a symphony of sounds, all set against the backdrop of the twinkling lights reflecting off the serene waters. Travelers in Sivota need to put this on your list for activities when in Sivota – also even though you might have half-board or all-inclusive at your hotel. To be honest we have eaten at almost all of the restaurant by the marina and they were all pretty okay. We liked the atmosphere at Spiridoula Taverna very much and the wine was good.
